Marching bands, city officials and high-ranked military figures galore. It was a day of honor and history for Italy's capital city of Rome. April 21 is the day - some 2764 years ago - that Rome was first founded as a city. Celebrations will go on throughout the day to revisit history and mutual values shared with the rest of the country. Rome's Mayor Gianni Alemanno, congratulated the city on this historic day. People in the city celebrated the anniversary of the legendary foundation of the city of Rome. The legend says that Rome was founded by twin brothers, Romulus and Remus on April 21 in 753 BC. People took part in events such as parades, gladiator shows, firework display and traditional roman banquets.
